Available Races:
Gnome, Human, Troll, Undead
The Mages of Warcraft once centered their powers within the magocracy of Dalaran. After that kingdom's destruction by the Burning Legion, however, the arcane arts spread to the far corners of the world.
Mages in WoW come equipped with some heavy duty spells and abilities based primarily on elemental magic (fire / ice). They have available to them a vast array of spells: damaging spells, defensive spells, crowd control spells, and utility spells.
Damage/Attack Spells
As one would expect, through the Mage's mastery of elements comes a wide variety of offensive spells with which to obliterate his or her enemies. Spells in this category will serve many different purposes but they all have an offensive element to them which brings them together. A few examples of such are Frostbolt, Fireball, and Arcane Missiles.
Utility Spells
Mages in WoW have a vast array of utility type spells available to them to suit a wide variety of situations. One of the more basic types available to them deals with the conjuration of food and water, two very important elements in the World of Warcraft. Food and its liquid counterpart will have a very noticeable effect of player regeneration, so a Mage's conjuring skills will always be welcome in any fellowship.
One of the more interesting and controversial skills that comes to a Mage is the ability to use the invisibility spell. While under the effects of this self-only spell, the Mage is rendered temporarily invisible, detectable only to those with counterspells active on them designed to see through the Mage's magic. The Mage also has spells such as Khadgar's Unlocking (unlocks chests or doors, similar to D&D's Knock spell) and a myriad of portal skills.
Instantaneous transport is always a plus and the World of Warcraft Mage will be able to channel magical energies allowing him to transport himself to various cities around the world with portal skills. Higher level ritual spells will also allow for these gates to be visibly summoned so that they will be open to all players in the Mage's group and not just the Mages themselves.
