Warriors are the melee-centered class. These characters are tough as nails and masters of weaponry and tactics. The special abilities of the Warrior are naturally combat-oriented. The Warrior is the ultimate toe-to-toe fighter with the most options available to him. Unlike other Warriors you might have played in other games, the Warrior of World of Warcraft has many different options and abilities to use during combat.
In the MMORPG genre, Warriors are often relegated to the role of "Meat Shields." However Blizzard gives the warrior class more flexibility. In addition to the wide range of weapon and shield skills, the Warrior will be equipped with many other tools in his/her arsenal. For example, the Warrior has offensive / defensive stances, and warcries or shouts that can buff the Warrior, and/or debuff and taunt the Warrior's enemies.
The Warrior has a special pool available for his or her abilities: the Rage pool. The Rage pool increases during battle depending on which stance the Warrior is using, and decreases when not in battle. The Rage pool can be used for "Taunts" to get an enemy to attack, as well as other special abilities such as Whirlwind.
Warriors can also make use of three different stances: the Battle Stance, the Defensive Stance, and the Berserker Stance. The Warrior must always choose a stance with which to attack. Each stance comes with its own special attacks and the rage gained while in these stances can be used for these powerful attacks. The Battle Stance is the most balanced stance, focusing on both offense and defense. The Defensive Stance puts the emphasis on defense, while the Berserker Stance puts the emphasis on offense.

Another stance is the Berserker Stance, which allows the Warrior to use Berserker abilities.
